Our Mission

The Catholic Employment Network (CEN) was formed in May 2002 by several parish job search ministry leaders.

Our Mission is to serve the St. Louis area community who need help during their job search transition by providing spiritual and practical job search support services . CEN conducts job search workshops throughout the year, addressing the critical topics of the job search: networking, interviewing, resume-writing, etc. Workshops are held are various parishes throughout St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County.

Parish groups are very active and help job seekers in a variety of ways; many hold individual job support groups within their parish, providing support and encouragement, discuss effective job search techniques and advice for specific job search situations/problems. Some of the groups also provide spiritual support in their meetings. All of the parish chapters can help job seekers through one-on-one coaching.

Prayer For Employment

God our Father and Creator, your son Jesus, told us not to worry about our physical and material needs; to observe how you care for the little birds and clothe the fields with beautiful flowers. Trusting in your concern for us, we beg you, hear our prayer for employment. May work soon be found and our mind set at rest. Turn our worry into joy and “prosper the work of our hands for us; prosper the work of our hands.” We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Gerard Majella

            Career Development Series
            Resume Workshop
When:  Tuesday, October 18, 7:15-8:30pm
Where: St Gerard Majella Catholic Church

Please join us on Tuesday, October 18, from 7:15-8:30pm in Parish Meeting Room 224, Building 2005, for our next Career Development Series meeting.  At this meeting, Frank Danzo will lead a “Resume Workshop”.  In this workshop, you will learn how to write your resume so that it captures the reader’s attention and appears so unique that no one else can put their name on it but you.  Please bring two (2) hard copies of your resume to see if it passes the “30 second thumb test” and if you are “hiding” your accomplishments.  Resumes are scanned, they are not read.  Frank will help make sure your accomplishments stand out.

Frank Danzo is the past President and founding board member of The Catholic Employment Network.  In his book “People Hire People, Not Resumes”, Frank shares his proven process to career transition based upon his own personal experience when he was downsized from Anheuser-Busch.  In 2007, Frank founded Career Networking Pro, an organization focused on teaching clients the life skills of career networking and relationship building, as well as providing a forum for continued personal and professional development.  Today, Career Networking Pro has over 230 active members.

We hope you will join us so we can continue to help each other! If you have questions or would like to help, please contact: Steve Jones, or Ann Weinerth or Nick Wnuk or Barbara Axmacher
